Keep one training plan across different gyms

Create a routine and save different variations of that routine for each gym you train in, based on the machines available there. See your progress, statistics and records per gym. Save machine settings such as seat height or pin position for each exercise and gym.

Log without stopping to manage the app

Lightweight remembers which routine you completed last and which one comes next (Up Next), so you don’t have to scroll through your workout history to see what you last trained and don’t have to scroll through your routines to select the right one. Start your next routine from the app, a Home Screen widget or Apple Shortcuts. Lightweight can also select the nearby saved gym automatically, so you don’t have to set it every time. On iPhone, you can get a notification when you arrive at a saved gym. Tap it to start your workout with that gym already selected.

Once you start, keep the workout moving from the iPhone Lock Screen: see the current set and its values, mark it complete, run timed sets and control the rest timer without opening the app.

Lightweight does not need an internet connection while you train. Start, log, edit and finish a workout fully offline; it is saved on your phone and syncs automatically when you reconnect. Your saved routines, gyms, workout history and progress remain available offline too.

Start from a routine or build the workout as you train. Add, replace or reorder exercises, build supersets, use rest timers and log weight and reps, time or distance. With Pro, create an editable training week around your goal, schedule and available equipment with Smart Trainer. Create custom exercises if you need something outside Lightweight’s extensive exercise library with 3D animations.

Don’t want to log every single lift but still want to track how often and where you’ve trained? Log a workout without adding exercises or sets. It still counts toward your history, streak and status, and records the gym in your Passport.

Coming soon: connect Lightweight to ChatGPT to create a routine from the recent training and existing routines you choose to share. Review the draft in Lightweight before saving it.

Find and remember gyms

In the app, search Lightweight’s gym directory by equipment, amenities and access, compare listed membership and day-pass prices, or sort gyms by how well their equipment matches your routine. Reviews and equipment lists are crowdsourced, and you can add a missing gym or suggest a correction.

Want a gym chain with branches near both your home and your office? Save the places that matter to you, then see which chains have locations near all of them and compare walking times. Compare two places for free, or up to four with Pro.

Keep track of every gym and country you’ve trained in around the world with Lightweight’s Gym Passport. It turns your training history into an interactive globe: countries you’ve trained in are highlighted, and you can zoom in to reveal pins for your gyms. Tap a pin to see the gym, your visits and workout photos.

Understand your progress

See what you lifted last time beside each set and copy it into today’s workout with one tap. You choose what “last time” means: the most recent time you did the exercise anywhere, in this routine, at this gym, or in this routine at this gym. Smart mode chooses for you—it prioritises the current routine, keeps machine and cable numbers tied to the current gym, and lets barbell, dumbbell and bodyweight exercises follow you between gyms. New personal records appear as you train.

Gym-specific matching is included for two saved gyms on the free plan; Pro unlocks it at every gym.

Exercise charts compare sessions, while monthly reports summarize workouts, duration, volume, sets, muscle distribution and personal records.

With Pro, Data Lab lets you create your own workout statistics and charts—for example, your estimated 1RM over time, lifetime volume lifted or how your training compares across gyms. Add your favourite statistics to your profile or share your custom stats and charts as a card.

Earn Status points and climb seven permanent ranks

Status tracks your overall lifting life as one permanent rank. Your points increase as you train consistently, improve your strength records, reach milestones for total workouts, lifetime volume and weekly streaks, train at new gyms and in new countries, and contribute gym information that gets verified. Your Status does not decay, and ending a streak never removes points or a rank you’ve earned.

Everyone starts at Pebble and can progress through Stone, Granite, Emerald, Obsidian and Sapphire to Diamond. Rank Explorer shows every threshold, your exact total, where your points came from and what can earn more.

Your rank appears as a coloured ring and glow around your avatar throughout Lightweight, including the Feed, comments, notifications and leaderboards. On your profile, the progress ring fills toward the next rank while higher ranks develop a brighter, animated aura around your photo.

Train with friends on your terms

While you’re training, Lightweight can show that a friend or family member is working out at the same time—even at another gym. See what workout they’re doing and how long they’ve been training.

Working out with a buddy and want to follow their routine? Copy their live workout with your own previous weights and reps. Or use Train Together to follow each other’s sets live while each of you logs your own workout and keeps a separate history, whether you’re side by side or in different gyms.

Once you finish, your workout appears in the Feed for the people allowed to see it.

Compare workouts, training time, volume, cardio, strength and Status with friends. Want to see how you stack up against other lifters at your gym? Public gyms you save or train at can also have opt-in leaderboards for workouts, time, volume, cardio and estimated strength in bench press, squat, deadlift and overhead press. Rankings appear once enough lifters join.

Using Oura while your friend uses WHOOP or Fitbit Air? With Pro, compare your 30-day average sleep duration on the same leaderboard, even across different wearables. Individual nights stay private. Open a completed workout to see that day’s Oura readiness, WHOOP recovery or Fitbit Air resting heart rate. Fitbit Air can also send newly completed Lightweight workouts to Google Health.

Keep control of your history

Import supported CSV exports from Hevy or Strong, or export completed sets with weight and reps as a CSV. On iPhone, optionally send newly saved workouts and estimated active calories to Apple Health.

The free plan includes your full workout history, lifetime personal records and exercise progress charts, plus up to four routines, seven custom exercises and two saved gyms.
